Today, many of these home remedies or natural remedies are being proven to be sound and effective…not to mention safe and without side effects. I remember my great grandmother grew garlic on a fence row when I was just a little kid. Garlic, as you know, has a very strong odor. I asked her what that “stinky” plant was and she told me that it was garlic and that she used it to cook with to keep her blood pressure down. Today, of course, you can buy garlic pills in any health food store. And guess what — they do lower blood pressure!

High blood pressure, or hypertension to give it its proper medical name, is the most common form of high blood pressure. Its causes include kidney disease, disorders, of the endocrine glands and malfunctioning or disorders of the arteries. A congenital abnormality of the aorta is one of the most serious forms of hypertension. Its chief symptoms are headache, usually in the back of the head, ringing in the ears, giddiness. Headache is worst at the time of waking in the morning and it has a tendency to wear off during the day.

Exercise is another way to help. Not only will it allow the body to develop better and increase strength, it will also provide a form of relaxation, thus helping reduce stress levels too. Exercises generally recommended include cycling, swimming and walking. If unable to get outside much, or restricted by extremely high blood pressure levels, simple cardiovascular routines can be introduced for you, often not involving anything more than a chair. In any case, it is always best to discuss exercise options with your physician before starting any routines.
