Living with arthritis can be very painful. Chances are after being diagnosed with arthritis you began scouring the internet for ways to help ease your pain. Most people want to find natural remedies to help their arthritis instead of relying on medications.

First, you need to know about arthritis. Arthritis simply means inflammation of joints. There are two main types of arthritis, Osteoarthritis and Rheumatoid arthritis. Both of these types affect the body differently.

Osteoarthritis is caused by the cartilage around the joint deteriorating. Without this cartilage, the joints can not move as smoothly. The body’s way of compensating for the lack of cartilage is to grow extra bone. The bone that has grown is not the same as cartilage, which creates stiffness and pain in the joints. This condition mostly affects the elderly, but can also affect younger persons who have experienced injuries to the joints. The most common location for osteoarthritis is the knees, hips, and shoulders.

Rheumatoid arthritis is an auto immune condition that causes inflammation of the joints. A majority of people experience symptoms on and off. Stress, fatigue, and sickness are triggers for flare ups. Rheumatoid arthritis can be diagnosed at any age, and can cause joints to be permanently disfigured.

It is believed that the following natural home remedies can help alleviate symptoms of both types of arthritis.

1. Calcium: Taking daily calcium supplements can help strengthen bones, and help the pain of arthritis. You can also eat calcium enriched foods to get calcium if you do not like supplements.

2. Potato Extract: Wash a potato, and thinly slice it with the skin on. Place the slices in a bowl of water, and cover overnight. The next morning drink the water.

3. Copper: It is believed that copper can strengthen the muscular system, which can help with flexibility. You can get copper from supplements, copper bracelets, and some forms of water. You want to be careful to not take copper in excess, as it can throw the balance of chemicals in your body off.

4. Glucosamine Sulphate: This supplement helps reduce inflammation. This is a great method for those who do not suffer from severe arthritis.

5. Turmeric & Garlic: Add these seasonings generously to your cooking to enjoy their anti-inflammatory properties.

6. Bananas: Eat just bananas for up to three days. Bananas are full of potassium and the vitamin B6. Eat bananas when they are just starting to develop spots.

There are some foods that are “trigger” foods, or foods that cause arthritis symptoms to be worse. These foods should be avoided as much as possible:

Caffeine: Drink caffeine free coffees, teas, and sodas

Dairy Products: Opt for Soy Milk and Soy Cheeses.

Red Meat: Stick to lean meats such as chicken and pork.

Corn: Choose less starchy vegetables such as asparagus.

Sugar: Try to reduce the amount of sugar in recipes, and look for sugar free alternatives of your favorite foods. Avoid artificial sweeteners as they are trigger foods too.

Citrus Fruits: Try to select less acidic fruits such as grapes and plumbs.

Wheat: Choose white bread instead of wheat.

Salt: Salt causes the body to retain fluid. Read labels carefully for their sodium content, and try to stay under 1,000 mg of sodium a day.

Maintaining flexibility of the joints is extremely important as well as doing natural home remedies for arthritis. Doing gentle Yoga or Pilate is a great way to improve and maintain flexibility of the joints. Be sure that you do not overstretch. You should only do what feels comfortable to you.

Remember that it is important to communicate with your health care provider regarding your arthritis before starting any natural remedies. You should also disclose any natural remedies that you are currently trying.

Most traditional, natural and alternative medications and mixtures are different from the standard medical treatments individuals generally get at the doctors’ offices.

Asthma Attack Natural Remedies

Among the natural and herbal remedies include herbs, dietary supplements, acupuncture, biofeedback, chiropractic and massage therapy, botanicals, homeopathy and nutrition.

How Asthma Affects An Individual

When an 18-year-old student, for example, suddenly develops wheezing and shortness of breath upon visiting his or her uncle who happens to have a cat, or a 30-year-old woman has colds that “always go into her chest,” which causes coughing and heavy breathing.

The symptoms are all reflective of an asthma attack, and these are but some of the many faces of asthma. Asthma is a medical condition wherein there is chronic inflammation of the bronchial tubes or airways, which causes swelling and narrowing of the airways. The result is difficulty breathing. The bronchial narrowing could either be total, or at least partially reversible with medications.

Alternative Treatments For Asthma

have a safe, natural asthma treatment click here

Most alternative or herbal remedies are often used alone, while the complementary treatments are used in tandem with the standard medications and treatments your doctor usually would prescribe. At present, there are lots of asthma herbal remedies and products available for use in treating the symptoms that are associated with asthma.

However, further research still need to be undertaken before anything clear can be established. Asthma patients seeking an alternative herbal treatment method should first discuss this with their doctor, before commencing on any kind of herbal treatment program. Here are some herbs and natural ingredients that have been studied to alleviate the conditions of asthma

- Vitamins and Oriental Herbs. It is widely believed that some Chinese herbs, like ding-chan tang, can decrease inflammation and relieve bronchospasm. Lab research has also shown that vitamin C helps alleviate the symptoms.

- Butterbur. This shrub grows perennially and can be found almost everywhere. This shrub has been noted a can be quite effective. This contains ingredients called petasin and isopetasin which are believed to help reduce muscle spasms and has potent anti inflammatory properties. .However, this particular herb should not be used by women who are either pregnant, or by those who suffer from either liver or kidney disease.

- Boswellia. More commonly referred to as Salai Guggal in Indian Ayurvedic medicine, this herb has been analyzed to aid in restricting the production of leukotrienes in the body. Leukotrienes are the compounds, when released in to the lungs, will cause the airways to become narrowed.

Asthma is a worrisome health condition that affects people in different ways. Each individual is unique in their degree of reactivity to environmental triggers. This naturally influences the type and dose of medication prescribed, which may vary from one individual to another.

Other alternative treatment modes also include Yoga. The breathing exercises utilized in yoga have been noted to help some asthmatics control breathing and relieve stress, a common asthma trigger, although no scientific evidence has yet been given to supports this.

Acupuncture has also been reported to aid in the treatment of asthma, however further studies are ongoing. In addition, learning to increase the amount of air inhaled, has effectively reduced fear and anxiety during an asthma attack for some.

As greater scientific evidence comes out regarding the adverse side effects of prescription drugs for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, natural remedies for rheumatoid arthritis is what you should look out for. Find out the expert facts in this article.

Natural remedies for rheumatoid arthritis can offer long-term relief from its painful symptoms. Let us look at some of the most common natural remedies and ingredients, and whether they are useful in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis –

1) Devil’s claw — it has natural anti-inflammatory properties. It is especially used in the treatment of osteoarthritis pain that affects the knee and hip area, and in chronic low back pain.

However, devil’s claw might not be the best alternative for rheumatoid arthritis patients. It interferes with prescription drugs such as warfarin and Ticlipidine and aggravates the conditions of acid reflux and peptic ulcers by increasing the production of stomach acids.

2) Feverfew — it has been used as a part of natural remedies for rheumatoid arthritis since ages. However, it has not been found to be very effective and also suffers from side effects such as mouth ulcers and stomach upset.

3) Li gong Teng and cat’s claw — they have been found to be effective as natural remedies for rheumatoid arthritis. However, they also have the following side effects.

Li gong Teng has shown male contraceptive properties. Even at low doses, it can lower the sperm count and lead to temporary infertility. It also suppresses the immune system function and increases the risk of infection and other health ailments.

Cat’s claw might cause kidney inflammation as a part of allergic reaction. It also affects the heart functions.

Safe natural remedies for rheumatoid arthritis

Omega-3 fatty acids that are found in fish oil and fatty fish are one of the best natural alternatives for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and such related inflammatory diseases.

The average Western diet consists of large amounts of Omega 6 fatty acids and is highly deficient in Omega 3 fatty acids. While Omega 6 fats cause inflammation and worsen the symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis, Omega 3s help to reduce inflammation and provide effective relief from rheumatoid arthritis and various other health problems that are caused due to inflammation.

Omega-3’s are natural anti-inflammatory. It has been found that when dietary supplementation consisting of Omega 3s was given to rheumatoid arthritis patients, a significant improvement in morning stiffness, aches and pain, and painful joints were seen in a period of 3 to 4 months.

Besides their extraordinary beneficial results in rheumatoid arthritis and inflammation control, Omega 3s — especially DHA and EPA that are found in fish oil supplements, also help in improving concentration levels, sharpening memory, alleviate the mood and keep depression away.

Purified Fish oil supplements that have been molecularly distilled are one of the best means of omega-3 supplementation that are free of the risk of any side effects. The process of molecular distillation ensures that harmful contaminants and toxins such as mercury, lead, PCBs, etc. have been removed from the oil and the resultant pure fish oil is then encapsulated into supplements.

As a part of natural remedies for rheumatoid arthritis, Green lipped mussel found in New Zealand is also an excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids. It is used in combination with fish oil supplements and provides effective long-term freedom from the symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis, reduces pain and joint stiffness.

The air from the lungs and into the lungs is carried out by the tubes called airways. In Asthma there is an inflammation in the airways which makes it swollen and sensitive. If we breathe any substance it reacts strongly to that substance and the muscles around it gets tightened which results the airways to narrow. There is a deficit of air in the lungs as the swelling increases and the airways moves towards the narrower. Sticky, thick liquid mucus is formed by the cells in the air ways which further narrow the airways. In Asthma there is a shortness of breathe, chest tightness, coughing, and recurring periods of wheezing. Asthma is a chronic lung disease and it attacks people of all age and generally at midnight or early in the morning.

Exact cause of the Asthma is unknown but it may be said that it is the result of the – Family genes, respiratory infections during the childhood, due to some airborne allergens, exercise, sulfites in food drinks, respiratory infections, aspirin or non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs etc. Symptoms and cause of the asthma is different for different people.

Inhaler and pills are prescribed for its treatment but in asthma precaution must be taken carefully to avoid the worst situation. Asthma of preliminary stage can be treated by home made medicines. Some home remedies and natural cure are also there to avoid asthma. They are:

If some black peppercorns alone or mixed with basil leaves chewed every night before going to bed it will subside the asthmatic problem within a few moments.

To reduce the attacks of asthma and its problem take some teaspoonful of ginger juice mixed in a glass of water and take it regularly.

Take a bowl with three tablespoons of water in it and boil it with six pieces of cloves. When it is completely exuded add honey almost one full teaspoon. At least take this remedy three times a day. It is very effective and acts like an expectorant.

Respiratory tract are cleared to a great extent with the help of figs. So 3-4 figs should be taken daily in the morning.

A glassful of milk mixed with two full teaspoon of honey should be taken at night. This is the safe and simplest remedy to avoid asthmatic attack.

Before brushing your teeth in the morning, drink water which is stored in the copper vessel at night. Some mineral (copper) from the vessel will mix into the water of the vessel and it will help in clearing the respiratory tract.

In a full glass of water add two full teaspoons of fenugreek seeds and boil it until it reduces to one third. Take this solution once a day and it is a very good home remedy for asthma.

Other than these, there are many home remedies to prevent or cure asthma. Hope you got some useful home remedies and natural cures for asthma.

Many do not realize this but drinking soda can lead to tooth decay, breakdown the interior walls of the stomach, increase the chance of diabeties, increase stress and lessen the quality of sleep you get.

To provide a healthy alternative, try drinking a tonic call Kombucha Tea. Kombucha is a natural tonic that has been known as a healing tonic in the East. Kombucha is flavorful and quite the healthy alternative to caffinated beverages such as soda. Kombucha is also known for its versatile and healing properties. It is also possible to brew kombucha from home with the right know-how.

2. Another way to fight fatigue is to dump that coffee. Coffee can be a great way to wake in the morning but because of its high caffiene content, an individual is almost certain to have a caffiene crash by mid day and be sluggish until bed time. Coffee can promote stained teeth and bad breathe as well as increase stress levels due to the high level of caffiene. All in all there is not much nutritional value in such a drink, in fact, it can strip away nutrients in your body as well as dehydrate you.

A suggestion for a healthy replacement of coffee would be a tea known as Yerba Mate. Yerba Mate Tea is grown sustainabley in the rainforests of South America and has been known for its various healthy aspects. Yerba Mate itself carries a plethora of nutrients and minerals all of which are needed to sustain healthy living. Yerba Mate Tea, like Kombucha and Tahitian Noni Juice have been known to aide in numerous ailements. Yerba Matte has also been known to provide a huge burst of healthy, non-irratible energy that lasts throughout the day!

A supplement also found to be quite helpful in reducing fatigue is called Noni Juice. Noni Juice has been revered for centuries to provide good health for many who have taken the juice. Many have claimed that Tahitian Noni Juice has helped them with joint discomfort, arthritis, bad sleep, low energy levels and so forth.

These are just some basic concepts in finding alternatives to common unhealthy habits we as a society have deemed the norm. By looking outside the box there are many healthful opportunities that we commonly miss out on. By changing a few aspects of our diet we can reduce stress, reduce fatigue, improve our comfort, think clearer, act smarter, do more, live better and lead more active lives.

Common problems can occur however when we don’t research the supplements we take and we don’t actively take part in our health. It is important to be health-wise and to take an active role in learning and discovering ways to change your life for the better. It is truly amazing how such minor day to day changes can make all the difference in our health and general well being. Listening to your body more often is the key to great health and wellness and the ability to create more energy in your life.

Let’s begin with the definition of insomnia. Insomnia is the difficulty of falling asleep or maintaining sleep. And insomnia is not always measured by the number of hours you sleep since everyone varies in sleep needs and practices. Since most of us know what insomnia is and how we feel the next day with one or more sleepless nights before that, not all of us seek treatment and remain unaware of the options available to treat insomnia. I have some interesting things to tell you.

Let’s start with the symptoms of insomnia. Generally there are three types of insomnia, and these are based on how long it lasts.

*Transient insomnia: lasts fewer than four weeks

*Short-term insomnia: the inability to sleep well for four to six months

*Chronic insomnia: the inability to sleep every night or most nights for more than six months

Insomnia symptoms for Transient and short-term insomnia can be caused by stress related factors such as losing a job, marital problems, personal events and just plain worrying about things.

Chronic insomnia symptoms can be caused by medical illnesses like heartburn, menopause, diabetes, and arthritis, sleep disordered breathing, like sleep apnea that cause one to stop breathing while asleep, restless leg syndrome (RLS) which is recurrent movements of the legs during sleep. “Learned” insomnia, where you go to bed worrying about going to sleep. Age, because as we age sleep becomes lighter and more fragmented. And lifestyle factors, like caffeine consumption, alcohol and drug abuse, smoking, poor sleeping habits.

Insomnia treatment can be divided into two areas: Treatment with and without medication.

When people think about insomnia treatment they tend to think about sleeping pills that can become addictive and may just bring up more medical issues. But in my research I have found that there are actually a lot of non-medical therapies and techniques out there that go a long way to help you feel sleepy at night and stay asleep.

Here are few techniques and suggestions I have found.

Develop a sleeping schedule

*Exercise during the day

*Keep a comfortable bedroom temperature

*Avoid stimulating drugs, like caffeine and nicotine right before sleep

*Avoid alcohol

*Avoid heavy meals before bedtime

*Natural remedies, including night time teas and alternative medicines

*Increase exposure to sunlight more in the morning than in the evening

*Relaxation therapy to reduce anxiety and body tension

Your next step? To take what you’ve just learned and find out more about natural cures and natural remedies for insomnia. Just a moment of your time, it may be a wise choice for you or someone you know and love that is suffering from insomnia.

While acid reflux is a disease that can lead to some forms of cancer if left untreated, there are many cures for acid reflux, ranging from natural remedies, to surgical procedures, to medications. Acid reflux natural remedies are preferred by many because of the fact that they pose little to no side effects, unlike medications and surgical procedures, and are cheaper. But you have to note, though, that you should be patient in applying them because the results are not immediate.

So, here are the best acid reflux natural remedies to try:

I. Eat safe foods for acid reflux.

Because this condition can be triggered by certain foods that are hard to digest and have too much acids, you should therefore eat the opposite. These include food low in fat (meat, dairy products, baked goods, desserts, cream, butter and carbohydrate-rich food), vegetables, apples and bananas.

You should also observe other practices when eating, like eating in small amounts and chewing your food well to prevent the digestive system from working too much. Keep a food journal so you can determine which of the food caused an acid reflux attack.

II. Observe other preventive measures.

Stay away from other things that cause acid reflux. Here are just some of them:

1. Don’t wear tight clothing and other tight things around your waist to prevent the stomach contents from being pushed to the esophagus.

2. Don’t lie upon eating. Wait for two hours before you go to sleep.

3. Keep a reasonable weight to prevent any pressure on the stomach.

4. Stop smoking. Nicotine causes the lower esophageal sphincter to relax too much.

5. Raise the head of your bed by six to eight inches to ease nighttime heartburn.

III. Home remedies

Aside from practical lifestyle changes, there are other acid reflux home remedies you can try at home. These include:

1. Apple cider vinegar. It has been used to treat many conditions, like allergies, acne, sinus infections, flu, high cholesterol, candida, chronic fatigue, contact dermatitis, sore throats, gout and arthritis. It can be used to treat apple cider vinegar, too. Just add two or more tablespoons of apple cider vinegar to eight ounces of water and drink it three times a day.

2. Ginger. Take 500mg of ginger with a glass of water and drink the mixture after eating your meals. It helps in proper digestion and soothes stomach linings.

3. Other herbs which do the same are peppermint, chamomile, ginger, licorice root and catnip even in just small traces. Drink them in tea or capsule form after meals.

4. Chewing gum, aloe juices and honey neutralize the acids in the body, like those prescribed medications given by doctors.

These are just some very helpful acid reflux natural remedies worth trying. As said before, you should be consistent and patient when trying them because the effects do not show right away.

Would you believe doctor’s recommend a good diet and exercise. Seems to be a recurrent theme with all our ailments! Be careful with the exercise though, jogging for example can jar the knees and hips. Most gyms have low impact cardio equipment such as bikes and cross-trainers. So, if you think pounding the tread mill is doing more harm than good, get on your bike!

Rheumatoid arthritis has been linked to food allergy or intolerance. If you suspect this is the cause of your condition then you need to follow an exclusion diet to pinpoint the allergen(s). Your GP should be able to give advice on this and there are medical sites, which will help. The usual suspects are wheat and dairy products, but there are others, such as soya and citrus fruits.

A word of warning though on reading articles and accepting their advice about which foods you should exclude from your diet. For example the nightshade family of foods: potatoes, tomatoes, aubergine and peppers are often quoted. By all means experiment and see if your symptoms improve by eliminating them for a short period, but it seems extreme to remove foods supplying important nutrients, without knowing for sure they are a problem for you. It also seems an irony to suggest removing peppers, given cayenne pepper is often recommended as an aid to reducing inflammation in joint conditions.

Green lipped mussels, fish oils and Evening Primrose oil are widely recommended for their anti-inflammatory properties, and apparently pomegranate can ease arthritic pain. Also try the following herbs for the same reasons:

cat’s claw

devil’s claw

nettle

bromelain

boswellia

willow bark extract

ginkgo and garlic

Ginger and turmeric are also recommended, but my understanding is that an awful lot of both need to be consumed to be effective, which makes it impractical unless you buy concentrated capsules. Curcumin is the ingredient in turmeric, which is useful in this and other conditions.

Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM), glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate are touted everywhere as cures for arthritis, but the current scientific evidence does not support the claims, although some small, and so not scientifically reliable, studies have shown the latter two salts, in sulphate form, may help where the condition is not too advanced or serious.

Gout - Is caused by the body not metabolizing uric acid and is a form of arthritis. Anyone suffering should avoid aspirin, as it causes retention of uric acid.

Eating 8 oz of fresh or tinned cherries a day can help reduce uric acid levels in the blood. Drinking plenty of fluids, up to 8 glasses of water per day, and eating plenty of fresh fruit and green leafy veg will also aid the excretion of uric acid. Omega-3 fatty acids, from flaxseed oil for example, will give some relief for swollen painful joints and doctor’s recommend avoiding high purine foods such as: poultry, fish and pulses.

Alternative medicine also suggests the use of leeks, cat’s claw, devil’s claw, nettle, bromelain and celery for their anti-inflammatory properties.

I have a keen interest in using natural remedies and have had years of experience in using herbs and homeopathy.

Eczema which is a chronic skin disorder causes lots of discomfort to the sufferer. It is identified with itching rashes. It also causes oozing skin blisters. The cases of problems like asthma, hay, eczema or fever have been noticed frequently in the family members of the people suffering from eczema.

Huge numbers of people these days are opting for eczema natural remedy. This shift is generally due to two reasons:

* When other methods to cure eczema proves ineffective

* They intend to supplement their current eczema treatment

Probiotics

Probiotics also referred as “good bacteria” are considered helpful in suppressing potentially detrimental bacteria and in strengthening the digestive tract.

The usage of probiotics has been found effective not only in preventing eczema but also in the treatment of already existing problem of eczema.

Always seek the advice of a physician before taking probiotics. Children having immune deficiencies should take probiotics only under the supervision of a physician.

Herbal Creams and Gels

Gels and creams prepared from herbal extracts such as witch hazel (an astringent), licorice and chamomile have been found highly effectual in the alleviating eczema symptoms in the sufferer.

Similar to probiotics, it is crucial to use these topical herbal applications only on the advice of a qualified health professional. There are certain herbs such as chamomile that may lead to allergic contact dermatitis.

Gamma-Linolenic Acid

Another eczema natural remedy in a row is the application of Gamma-Linolenic Acids (GLA). It comprise essential fatty acid such as primrose and borage oil to name few. Deficiencies such as skin lipids responsible for inflammation can be cured by their usage and thus prove beneficial in curing eczema. However, there has been some controversy on the effectiveness of GLA.

Emollient

It is counted among the best treatments for eczema. It can be had in cream, lotion or oil form. Choose the one and it must not be changed.

General Information and Tips on Eczema Natural Remedy

The most prominent thing in a case when one is suffering from eczema is to keep the skin moisturized. It is the base to keep the skin from any kind of skin itch and flare-up.

One should take an oatmeal bath which is an incredible natural treatment to cure eczema as well as to relax the sufferer. Oatmeal baths prepared from Aveeno, or from rolled oats give a very soothing effect to inflamed itching skin. These baths can be prepared easily at home by adding one or two cups of oatmeal into the lukewarm water. In case of more itching, increase the quantity of oats. Apply moisturizer on the damp skin after the bath to maintain its moisture.

Blueberries are also effective in keeping the problem of eczema at bay. One can look for the lotion having blueberries as ingredients. It aids in reducing the inflammation and itching related to eczema.

Eczema can also be brought under control by using skin wash prepared from natural ingredients. The recipe to prepare the skin wash is: take one teaspoonful of greasy elm bark and one teaspoon of white bark and blend it properly using two cups of water. Now let this blend boil for about thirty-five minutes and thereafter allow it to cool. Now apply this mixture on the affected skin as skin wash to clean. Itching may not be cured completely; however, it will reduce the problem to a great extent.

Yet another effective eczema natural remedy is the usage of Vitamin E. Use cream Vitamin E on the affected skin or take some Vitamin E supplements.

To conclude, there are numerous options available to treat eczema naturally. Though they are most often are safe to use; still it is best to use them on the prescription of a qualified health practitioner and do some thorough research beforehand.
